Dear Reader,

The resipsa blog is focused on the interplay between law, politics, history, and current events.  “Res ipsa loquitur,” as all first year law students know,  is a legal phrase of art which, translated literally,  means that the thing speaks for itself.  A further extension of the logic of the phrase is that nothing more needs to be said,  the facts are so obvious as to be self-authenticating.

But while we live in a world where the obvious is often so palpable we bleed when it hits us, we treat it as if it were optional to accept.

Treating the obvious as a choice, in the manner of current politics, tragic periods of history, and lapses of law,  opens the door to the Orwellian universe of doublespeak we struggle  in today.

While the resipsa blog focuses on the interplay of law, history, politics, and current events,  its true niche is to parse out the things in those realms that scream their own bloody truth so loud as to require spare comment from the likes of me.

My name is Rich Brock,  JD, MA (Mythology & Folklore), BA (Classical Civilization History),  and I appreciate your indulgence in my premise on the obvious and my wink and a nod to all of its intended ramifications.
